Businesses today must take into consideration the ''big picture'' and be accountable not only for financial results, but also social and environmental results, writes Maharishi University of Management professor Dr. Dennis Heaton in a recently published editorial in the Journal of Business & Hotel Management. Sustainability must be integrated into business practice.

''Business activity exists within the context of the natural laws of the planetary environment,'' Dr, Heaton writes. ''The more we can orient our lives to be in tune with those laws of nature for our individual well-being, then the greater good we can create for the health of our economy, and the thriving of the natural systems in our planetary environment.''
