'As soon as I started Transcendental Meditation, I noticed improvements straight away—it was amazing and it changed my life.'
This quote, from Amanda Leat, a digital agency director in the UK, is just one of many in a new video about the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
The video, produced in the UK, personalizes the benefits of Transcendental Meditation (TM). It also highlights numerous research studies on the meditation technique, but mostly draws on interviews with people from all areas of life who have been practising TM.
The interviewees are successful professionals who have noticed improvements in their lives, especially in their creative abilities.
Amy Molyneux, Design Director and Owner of PPQ Fashion, speaks about her increased creativity since learning TM.
'I think TM helps you be more creative because I feel like there's a sorting process going on within me,' she says. 'When I've done my TM I have a clear vision of what I want to achieve.'
In addition, Ms Molyneux notices more energy.
'I sleep much better when I've done TM and when I look at myself in the mirror, I don't see that tired girl because I've done three shows in three different continents in two months.'
Kitty de la Beche, a film producer, also notices that her practice of Transcendental Meditation helps her to find creative solutions.
'TM really helps me . . . to always to come up with a solution very quickly that works. I don't see anything as impossible anymore; I see everything as achievable. And I am achieving a lot, a lot quicker as well.'
Nigel Barlow perhaps sums it up best when he mentions a long-held belief that creative people, like artists, thrive in stressful circumstances.
He says, 'There's a myth that people need stress in order to perform or to create. It is a myth. What people need is a challenge but they also need the clarity of mind and the energy levels to rise to that challenge.'
Mr Barlow, a leading authority on innovation, creativity and leadership, adds that Transcendental Meditation helps provide that energy and clarity of mind.
