During a recent lecture at the Garrison Institute* in New York, USA, Jeffrey Abramson spoke about designing buildings in a way that supports life both inside and outside, that has a positive influence on the environment as well as on the building's occupants. His lecture was entitled 'Transcending Green'.

In 'Transcending Green', Mr Abramson spoke to a group of about 50 young professionals, architects, and designers about using Maharishi Vastu design to construct buildings that enhance the creativity and productivity of the most valuable part of any business—human capital.

He shared a few experiences from people working in an office building designed according to Vastu or Vedic architecture.

One person explained, 'I sense some form of subtle intelligence going on with the staff while they are working. They are thinking and producing and seem to be in sync without actually talking about it. I feel happier and it's hard to find the words, but I have a lighter feeling. Instead of feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders, I feel more optimistic.'

Another said, 'The exposure to the sun is beneficial, but it's more than that. It's the absence of chemicals that can be irritating to our systems. It's the greenery, it's the sunlight, it's the cleaner air; but it feels like it's more than that. I feel like I have a connection to everyone here.

'If it's the Vedic architecture, then thank goodness for Vedic architecture. Whatever it is, or whatever combination of things it is, I feel better. I love coming to work here. I don't feel closed off from the outside world.

'My creative side has never been so activated. I always feel like I need to come back here to get centered. There is an energized sense of calm confidence that we can manage every day's business activities no matter what challenges we encounter, and as developers, we are an important part of the world's future.'
