Bud Liebler, former vice-president of a major American auto company, says that in business 'you are playing for high stakes, and there's a lot of pressure.' He relates how practising Transcendental Meditation enables him to go smoothly from one situation to the next, making level-headed decisions.
Mr Liebler comments that there is stress every day in big business. There are many stresses every day—'maybe you're involved in two or three of them,' he said, 'but you're playing big stakes and there are large decisions. There's a lot of pressure and you put a lot of time and energy into it.'
He explained that one is managing decisions, managing people, and trying to manage one's own personal life. 'My experience was that Transcendental Meditation smoothed it over—it made it possible to go through, and go from one decision to the next, and make decisions clearly, level-headed—without going nuts over them.'
Mr Liebler felt the technique has been extremely beneficial for him personally, and that 'as a manager, it made me a better manager,' he said. His comments were made during a video interview that is available on the official Transcendental Meditation Programme website in the US: TM.org
Other executives report similar benefits: 'Transcendental Meditation has made a big difference, both at work or at home,' says Martha Zimmerman, attorney at law and litigator in Fairfax, Virginia, USA.
'I'm able to stay focused—to see the big picture and attend to the specific issues that need immediate attention. Meditating has definitely made my life more enjoyable and more successful,' she said. Ms Zimmerman has been practising the Transcendental Meditation Technique for 35 years.
