Tower and Lerner show off new Rockville HQ

On 26 August 2008 Gazette.Net reported: The state of Maryland has a new 'green' building which houses the Rockville headquarters of The Tower Companies and Lerner Enterprises. The nine-storey glass tower is a showcase of Vedic design, and has been recognized by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system, which has honoured it with a US Green Building Council's platinum certification. The Gazette reported, 'Compared with typical offices, the building is designed with a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system that is 30 percent more efficient and will reduce energy consumption by 41 percent and water consumption by 48 percent.'

Designed by architects Kishimoto, Gordon, Dalaya PC of Rosslyn, Virginia on Vedic design principles promoted by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi the founder of Transcendental Meditation, the building supports occupants' health and productivity.

The Gazette quoted Jeffrey S. Abramson, a partner of The Tower Companies, as saying, 'The best buildings are those that make us feel good and at their highest can elevate your success. Tower's vision transcends beyond green to creating super-charged healthy environments that are assets for the business, generate return on rent and become a rewarding work experience.'

The article also noted that the award-winning building is part of a planned Tower Oaks community, which will be 'a 200-acre mixed-use site that is to eventually include 2.5 million square feet of commercial, residential, retail and hotel space'.
