Recent developments for the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Latin America include the screening of two new inspiring documentaries, establishment of course facilities, and expansion of coherence-creating groups of meditators.
Two full-length documentaries have opened in cinemas throughout Latin America, featuring the work of David Lynch and Father Gabriel Mejia in implementing the Transcendental Meditation Programme to improve education, reduce violence, and contribute to world peace. After 700 people viewed the Father Gabriel film in one cinema, half the audience immediately wanted to learn Transcendental Meditation. At another showing, 400 businessmen viewed the film, and many have since learnt the technique.
Transcendental Meditation teachers have been creating waves of interest in Latin American countries not yet familiar with this programme. They have been presenting the benefits of TM on TV and radio, as well as inviting experts to offer Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology—and other health care initiatives—in those nations.
A course facility built according to Vastu (Vedic architecture) has recently been completed in Argentina. It will provide accommodation and training facilities for courses in Maharishi's programmes, such as Transcendental Meditation teacher training.
Finally, 'Prevention Wings' of the military have been expanding, in which members of the security forces of several Latin American countries are practising Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying in groups.
