A Maori graduate of the recent Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course in MERU, Holland will return to New Zealand to bring the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to the indigenous Maori people.
His wife became the first Maori Teacher of Transcendental Meditation in 2000. She recently returned from Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, where she attended the international conference, 'Restoring Balance: The Indigenous Grandmothers' Call to the Women of the World'.
Only the second Maori Teacher of Transcendental Meditation, the new graduate has been involved, together with his wife, in a number of projects in schools and prisons. He also plans to restart a programme from the late 1980s to create a disease-free society among 10,000 Maori.
'Magnificent' was the word he used to described his experience on this special Teacher Training Course—with eleven course participants, representing seven nationalities and seven languages. The knowledge that was unfolded each day was 'just magnificent', he commented.
The two teachers are associated with a Maori language preschool, and his wife has arranged many appointments for him to make presentations on Transcendental Meditation and Consciousness-Based Education on his return home.
