Japan: Creating ideal education through Transcendental Meditation - Highlights of 2009

Reviewing a successful year of expansion in Japan of the programmes developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the Global Country of World Peace, Raja John Konhaus, Raja (Administrator) of Invincible Japan, summarized significant highlights of 2009.*

This is the first article in a three-part Global Good News series.

Education

More than 300 educators and Transcendental Meditation practitioners attended education conferences in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima (see previous article).

Dr Ashley Deans,** Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education, spoke about EEG (brainwave) coherence during the practise of Transcendental Meditation, and its scientifically documented effects in education—including improved academic performance, reduced stress, and total brain development.

The audiences were very receptive, and following the conferences several schools expressed the wish to implement the programme immediately.

Dr Deans and leaders of the Global Country of World Peace in Japan also toured the nation, giving presentations to students and faculty at numerous schools, including the renowned Kyoto University. At a private school for boys in one city, the principal, who is a Buddhist monk, plans to introduce the Transcendental Meditation Programme to 3,000 students at his school.

Consciousness-Based Education is a priority for the Global Country of World Peace, as a means of establishing coherence-creating groups of Yogic Flyers to create invincibility in every country—a group of 1,200 is the number required for Japan.
