Several hundred peace-creating experts gathered to practise Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme and its advanced techniques including Yogic Flying in order to create an influence of coherence and positivity during the United Nations Climate Change Conference held 3-14 December 2007 in Bali, Indonesia.
As reported in Part I of this article, the group was organized through the generosity and incentive of entrepreneur, philanthropist, and environmental activist, Mr Declan Murphy.
In addition to coverage by the local and international media—featured in Part II of this article—a press release was prepared about the benefits of a coherence-creating group for this and future climate conferences.
During the conference, Mr Murphy gave 70 press releases directly to the international press representatives, and the response was impressive—by 10 am the same day he had had 30 discussions with the press.
Ten or twelve journalists from the international media also visited the coherence-creating group directly, and all of them expressed a sincere depth of interest and appreciation.
The press release stated that current strategies for global climate change are not working, and then featured the heading 'We Need All the Help We Can Get!' The press release went on to report:
'During this week in Bali 350 local meditation experts have gathered to meditate close to conference delegates to radiate coherence and positivity in order to enhance the delegate's creativity and decisions.'
The press release noted that hundreds of 'published scientific studies have demonstrated that simple TM [Transcendental Meditation] technologies of consciousness can create not only dramatic changes in mind and body but also affect significant and immediate positive changes in the environment.'
The press release explained that large coherence-creating groups practising Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme including Yogic Flying, 'have been found to repeatedly lower crime, accidents, hospital admissions and sickness in society, and reduce violence and deaths in actual war zones. Political stability, more patent applications, balanced weather, and increased stock market performance has also been measured.
'This gathering represents the start of a global initiative of using meditation for climate solutions—utilising the deeper levels of our greatest unexploited resource, human consciousness, to help bring back balance to the environment.
'It also gives every person the opportunity to participate and contribute in a real global endeavour by simply enlivening the Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature within themselves.
'In addition, we are co-ordinating a programme to use the scientifically proven harmonising techniques of TM to support the essential decision-making process in Bali and at subsequent climate forums. Also, on an ongoing worldwide basis, individuals practising these programmes will be generating coherence in society that will further facilitate the emergence of new solutions to the climate change challenge.
'Future meditation gatherings are planned for Paris, Washington, Copenhagen, and other locations.
'This is a peaceful, non confrontational and complimentary programme for the work of our international climate policy makers,' the press release concluded.
