Hundred billion dollars for world peace
I-Newswire Translate This Article
16 November 2005
On 16 November 2005 I-Newswire reported:
The city council of Maharishi Vedic City passed a unanimous resolution to establish permanent world peace by eradicating poverty worldwide. One hundred billion dollars will be the start-up cost for this project that will involve developing unused agricultural land in developing countries.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
According to Dr Bob Wynne, the mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, the city council will work with local governments of developing nations to establish good wages, housing, and schools for the farmers in the developing countries.
The council will also work in conjunction with non-profit organizations and large banks to achieve the goal of obtaining the $100 billion. This amount will cover expenses for 2 to 3 years and after this time frame, the project will be self-sufficient.
The article explained the extreme importance of achieving the goal of ending world poverty. The United Nations Human Development Report 2005 states that currently 1.2 billion people on Earth earn less than $1 a day. Another fact that illustrates the urgency of such a project is that, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, there are 2.5 billion acres of unused agricultural land present in 40 developing nations.
Dr Wynne said, 'As long as extreme poverty exists in the world, then individual peace and individual health, which is the basis of world peace, will be impossible to attain.' He added, 'Fortunately, the government of Maharishi Vedic City is dedicated to and has the technologies and approaches that can establish the basis for permanent world peace.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
