Last year groundbreaking took place for the first Maharishi Peace Palace in Turkey. When completed the three-storey building, located in Istanbul, will be 1,000 square metres. The Peace Palace will be a home for the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, including Transcendental Meditation, and a lighthouse of harmony and peace for the area through participants' group meditations.

The first private home in Turkey designed according to Maharishi Vastu architecture has been completed in Ankara.

Translation into Turkish of books and other materials related to Transcendental Meditation continues:

Human Physiology: Expression of Veda and the Vedic Literature, the first book by Tony Nader, MD, PhD, was translated into Turkish by Dr Sungur Pamir, a Turkish medical doctor.

Fundamentally Unique, a new booklet that in 28 pages contains a wealth of information and knowledge about Transcendental Meditation, is now available in Turkish. Many of the short courses of Maharishi's knowledge that are being offered around the world have also been translated into Turkish.

In February this year, 45 people from Turkey who practise Transcendental Meditation travelled to India. The group visited the Global Capital of World Peace* at the centre (Brahmasthan) of the country, where a large group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits (peace-creating experts) is in residence, creating an influence of coherence and harmony in world consciousness through their daily performances. Some of the group from Turkey also visited the new state-of-the-art Maharishi Vedic Health Centre in Bhopal, and reported very good results from their Maharishi Ayur-Veda treatments.

In the last month advertisements promoting Maharishi's approach to creating peace and harmony in society have appeared in local newspapers.

Under the directorship of Dr Kemal Cetinbahadir, the Maharishi Ayur-Veda Health Centre in Istanbul has been operating successfully for over 12 years. During a recent three-week visit to Turkey, Vaidya Vyas, an expert Maharishi Ayur-Veda physician, conducted over 100 consultations.

Turkey has a new Centre for Transcendental Meditation, and the number of people learning the technique has increased by 20%.

A World Peace Assembly, a conference for advanced practitioners of Transcendental Meditation to gain deeper knowledge and rest, was held in Bursa. Eighty people from several Middle East countries attended, including 16 taking a course to learn the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme. Increasing numbers of people practising these peace-creating technologies of consciousness will help to create harmony and coherence in their own countries and the whole region. The conference also included an international course on Maharishi Aroma Therapy.

Another large assembly in Antalya had 150 participants hailing from 12 countries. It was attended as well by international directors of the Global Country of World Peace.

* In January 2008 Maharishi designated the Global Capital at the Brahmasthan of India as the Global Capital of Raam Raj (administration through natural law).
