Organic Serbia group starts its own television show, promotes healthy living

Branko Cicic, director of the Transcendental Meditation programme in Serbia and advocate for Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture, spoke recently about the third annual Bio Balkan Expo in Belgrade.

The organic fair, organized by Mr Cicic and members of his Serbian Organic Foundation, received extensive media coverage and found an enthusiastic audience. This year, as in previous fairs, 'the minister of agriculture in Serbia opened the fair, making this event really very highly visible and attractive in the media, and also attractive for the visitors,' said Mr Cicic.

He and other proponents of organics wanted to ensure media coverage that promotes healthy living year round, not just during the Bio Balkan Expo. To this end they created their own television production and have started producing a TV show called Organic Serbia (Organska Srbija).

The show aims to encourage Serbians to choose organics, whether in food, clothing, or personal care. But this year, the show was also a platform for promoting the Bio Balkan Expo, showing clips and footage from the previous year's fair.

Mr Cicic added, 'This will be our major tool in relating our message to the public in Serbia.'

As with the Bio Balkan Expo, the focus of the television show is broad. Even so, Mr Cicic said that he views both the fair and television as platforms to help inform Serbians of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's technologies of consciousness, specifically those which are health oriented, including Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture and Maharishi Ayur-Veda natural health care.

Both Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture and Maharishi Ayur-Veda approach food and health in a comprehensive and holistic manner. Unlike traditional organics and alternative medicine, though, they also take the effect of consciousness into account—placing importance on developing the consciousness of the farmer and the patient to ensure that both gain maximum benefit in each field.
