It's called Operation Warrior Wellness. It is helping war veterans of all ages with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) regain control of their lives through Transcendental Meditation.
Before her husband Luke deployed to Afghanistan, he was fun-loving and outgoing, said Abi Jensen. It was a very different story when he returned. Luke Jensen knew he needed to reach out for help when he a hit a breaking point.
Tess Hedrick, reporting on television station KTVO-3, relates how Jerry Yellin, an 88-year-old WWII veteran who suffered from PTSD until he discovered Transcendental Meditation, happened to see a front page newspaper article on PTSD featuring Luke Jensen's story.
''I spoke to him—told him who I was and what I had been through and what I was doing now. And I asked him if he would come to Fairfield (in Iowa, USA) and learn Transcendental Meditation,'' said Yellin, Co-Chair of Operation Warrior Wellness. Luke did so a year ago in August, ''and he got his life back.''
The two spoke Saturday at a seminar for veterans in Fairfield, Iowa. Luke said it's because of Transcendental Meditation that he is still with his family today, and encouraged other veterans to learn Transcendental Meditation, not only for themselves, but for the sake of their families.
