The article features the recent grant of $500,000 per year for two years, awarded to Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA by the (US) National Institutes of Health. The grant is for research on using the Transcendental Meditation Technique in the treatment of coronary heart disease in African-Americans.

The research is a collaboration between the M.U.M. Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention and Columbia University Medical School in New York City; the funding comes from the American Recovery and Investment Act via the NIH National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
