30 December 2008
On 30 December 2008 Brattleboro Reformer reported:
Residents around Windham County, located in Vermont, USA, see the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Technique as a natural means to help deal with stress during the busy holiday season. Research indicates that Transcendental Meditation can be twice as effective in reducing anxiety as compared to other types of meditation and stress reduction techniques.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
Transcendental Meditation, founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, not only helps relieve stress but also promotes good health, says Colleen Chatterton of the Maharishi Invincibility Center at 24 High Street in Brattleboro, Vermont.
The Brattleboro Reformer reported, 'The technique is highly effective in reducing stress and anxiety levels, but also can reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol while improving brain function.'
The article quoted Ms Chatterton, a Transcendental Meditation practitioner for 35 years, as saying, 'It helps people organize because their mind becomes clearer and more orderly.'
The TM technique is taught in a seven-step programme of both personal and group instruction, which gives participants a complete understanding of the technique. TM can be learned by anyone regardless of his or her religious, political, or philosophical opinion, the instructors say.
Ms Chatterton was quoted as saying, 'It has nothing to do with religion; people from all different religions practice it.'
The Brattleboro Reformer reported, 'The past few weeks have seen an interest in attendance at the Maharishi Invincibility Center, with more local residents embracing the meditation as a nonmedicinal approach to controlling hypertension. Chatterton said the regular clients of the Brattleboro Advertisement Quantcast center have requested group sessions during the holiday period as well.'
Dr Shirley Boncheff, a certified teacher of the programme in Brattleboro, was quoted by the Brattleboro Reformer as stating, 'TM is a simple, easily-learned technique, practiced for 15 to 20 minutes twice a day, which provides the experience of restful alertness. The body gains a state of profound relaxation while the mind is settled, but fully alert, fully awake inside.'
Over the last 50 years, an estimated five million people from all backgrounds have learned about Transcendental Meditation, the article stated.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
