Dr Kwesi Orgle, director of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in Ghana, recently reported on the visit of Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, to the country.
Dr Morris's visit was the first in his current 14-country tour of Africa, celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's knowledge and programmes on the continent.
The first seminar he held was for Transcendental Meditation teachers and practitioners at the new national centre in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The centre is a beautiful facility that was designed and built according to Maharishi Vastu architecture.
There, Dr Morris gave a presentation that 'highlighted expressions of rising world consciousness' and the need to establish large groups of advanced meditators to create invincible peace and progress in the nation, reported Dr Orgle. Dr Morris illustrated his presentation with videos and slides from around the world.
Dr Morris also met with government leaders, presenting the benefits of Maharishi's programmes in the fields of education, health, the environment, science and technology.
Commenting on the health meeting, he said that he was impressed with the regenerative health system in Ghana because it is prevention-oriented. The system, like Maharishi Ayurveda natural health care, encourages a healthy lifestyle and daily routine.
In the area of environment, Dr Morris discussed Maharishi University of Management's renowned Sustainable Living programme and how it might be able to help in the development of ecovillages in Ghana.
Dr Orgle concluded that now Transcendental Meditation teachers in Ghana want to follow up with all the progress made in the past few days. 'We want to continue with the momentum that has been created by Dr Morris's visit' and give further assistance in bringing the benefits of these programmes to the nation.
