According to Bulgaria's Agriculture, Food, and Forestry Minister Dessislava Taneva, the number of organic farmers in Bulgaria increased twenty-fold between 2008 and 2018. There are 6,600 organic farmers now, and the areas under biological cultivation increased from 26,000 ha in 2011 to 162,000 ha in 2019.
