Maharishi University to graduate 246 students Saturday, June 22: Chicago educator to give commencement address - event will be streamed live

Nearly 250 students from 53 different countries will receive a diploma from Maharishi University of Management* on Saturday, June 22, during the 2019 commencement ceremony in the Golden Dome on the MUM campus in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
The event will be streamed live, starting at 1:00 p.m. US Central Daylight Time [8:00 p.m. Central Europe Time].

The largest contingent of graduates, 150 students, will receive a master of science in computer science.
Chicago educator Nakisha Hobbs, who cofounded an innovative school in Chicago that aims to transform urban youth into global leaders, will give the commencement address.
Her Village Leadership Academy, a kindergarten through 8th-grade school with 700 students, incorporates the Transcendental Meditation® technique as a part of the curriculum.
Other innovative features include a practical approach to leadership development, a world studies and social justice curriculum, and access to global travel through the World Scholars Program.
Ms. Hobbs gave a memorable presentation at a Changemakers Conference on the MUM campus in which she shared a moving and inspiring story about being the child of struggling teen parents and going on to found a school to empower children with backgrounds like hers.
As part of the commencement ceremony, Ms. Hobbs will be honored with an honorary Doctor of Laws honoris causa degree in recognition of her extraordinary service in improving the lives of urban youth.
Also receiving honorary doctorates will be Chris Wege, whose family foundation has contributed very generously to the university, and MUM Trustee Laura Wege, who has helped facilitate the contributions of the Wege Foundation. Mr. Wege has played a leading role in many projects central to the growth and development of MUM and the community. Ms. Wege is an attorney, former TV host, professional mediator, and MUM alumna (MS in psychology).
In separate ceremonies during the week leading to graduation, two additional individuals are also being presented with honorary doctorates.
Navin Doshi, a renowned aerospace engineer, philanthropist, meditator, author, and Vedic scholar, is being recognized for being a leading proponent of India's Vedic heritage and its role in the modern world. His goal is to build bridges between East and West.
Deepak Baskota, a former member of Parliament and Minister for Home Affairs in Nepal, will be honored for his work leading that country's Transcendental Meditation organization. He is also the founder of the first cooperative organic tea plantation in the country, Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Centre.
