Many students have achieved success through the Accounting Professionals MBA programme, launched several years ago at Maharishi University of Management (MUM), Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
While MUM has been accredited to offer an MBA (Master's in Business Administration) since 1982, it launched the Accounting MBA track in 2005 to meet the needs of professionals wishing to advance their careers in this field. Like all of MUM's degree programmes, the Accounting MBA incorporates Consciousness-Based Education. The programme draws students from throughout the world—from countries including Bhutan, Cambodia, Cameroon, Ethiopia, India, Ukraine, and many more.
The Accounting Professionals MBA is especially appealing to students for several reasons. For one, the degree incorporates up to two years of practical training, during which students hold paid positions at US companies of their choice. This allows students to gain hands-on experience to enhance their resumes, as well as allowing them to pay off their student loans by the time they graduate. In addition, the MBA includes preparation for the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and CMA (Certified Management Accountant) exams.
The students who graduate from this programme are highly sought after by companies because of their advanced technical skills, such as with Microsoft Excel, and their strong work ethic developed at MUM. In addition, employers appreciate the confidence and good interpersonal skills of the graduates, which can be attributed in part to the benefits of Consciousness-Based Education. Through twice daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, students develop Self-knowledge as well as expertise in their professional field.
Since the programme's inception, students have secured top positions such as financial analyst, senior staff accountant, internal auditor, accounting manager, credit analyst, and chief financial officer at companies and institutions throughout the world.
Dr Andrew Bargerstock, Director of the Accounting MBA programme at MUM and Associate Professor of Business, recently expressed his hopes that this programme will continue to expand, attracting students from across the globe to take advantage of MUM's holistic approach to education and superior professional training in the field of accounting.
