Young students at a school in South Auckland, New Zealand, continue to learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and soon their family members will begin learning the technique as well, as part of a new community initiative.
'We continue to build on our success at the school in South Auckland,' said Dr Martin Davy,* National Director of Education for the Global Country of World Peace in New Zealand. So far, students ages 5 to 13 have been learning the programme, and now, the first school community members are beginning to learn as well.
'Initially, this will mean the mothers of students who are already practising Transcendental Meditation,' said Dr Davy. He explained that the mothers will practise TM with their children in the morning, upon bringing them to school, and in the afternoon before bringing them home. 'We're very excited about this new step, and feel it will have a transformational effect on the community.'
In conjunction with Transcendental Meditation instruction, school families will also be offered the chance to learn principles of Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care and Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture. Furthermore, plans are moving forward to construct Maharishi Sthapatya Veda facilities at the South Auckland school to complement Maharishi's programmes already being offered there. 'The school principal has shown great enthusiasm for building Vastu (Vedic architecture) buildings on school grounds, and we look forward to making this a reality,' said Dr Davy in conclusion.
