Students at Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa, USA continue to demonstrate the tremendous value of Consciousness-Based Education. This year, numerous awards in diverse areas include a state champion at the Iowa High School Speech Association and a National Merit Scholarship.
One student won the solo mime championship at the Iowa High School Speech Association, said Dr Richard Beall, head of Maharishi School.*
Maharishi School is now tied 'with one other school that has 20 times more students—with 17 state championships in the history of the competition', said Dr Beall.
The student received 'critic's choice' at the state championships for her performance, in which she played a scientist who transforms herself into a variety of creatures.
Her performance was humorous, creative, and high energy, Dr Beall said.
Dr Beall showed a photo of the student standing next to her championship banner, which the winning school each year keeps for the duration of the school year.
Dr Beall also announced that another Maharishi School student received a National Merit Scholarship this year.
'Our school receives many times more than the national average of National Merit Scholars—the highest award that can go to high school students in the United States,' he said.
'Less than one per cent of those 1.3 million who apply, [who are] involved in the competition, attain that highest goal.'
