Progressive schools around the world are offering a new kind of education, one which unfolds the students' full potential—reduced stress, total brain development, improved academic performance, and happiness—while simultaneously contributing to the welfare of their nations. Consciousness-Based Education is transforming the lives of students in a diverse range of cultural and socio-economic environments—from well-to-do private institutions, to indigenous communities, to tough inner city schools.

The successful programme includes the Transcendental Meditation Technique, and Dr Ashley Deans, Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education, has traveled the world presenting the scientific research on the programme and benefits for schools, such as increased intelligence, comprehension, and creativity, and improvements in ADHD.

He recently toured Finland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Hamsa (Hungary), Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Albania. In every country, he sees a rising interest in Consciousness-Based Education from administrators, teachers, parents, and students.

In Macedonia, the president of a large university invited Dr Deans and representatives of the Global Country of World Peace (the organization which teaches the Transcendental Meditation Programme worldwide) to speak to 100 students and faculty. He is now inviting them back to talk to 1,000 students and has agreed to fund the first 100 students who begin the Transcendental Meditation Programme.

In Albania, a university dean organized a presentation by Dr Deans and leaders of the Global Country. The response was so positive he has invited them back to speak to 1,000 students.

A professor in Croatia organized a lecture at a teachers' college in Zagreb, and is now planning a major presentation to students in the fall.

Similar successes took place in other countries on his tour, says Dr Deans. He also sees a growing understanding of the importance of maintaining groups of students and faculty practising Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, to reduce social tensions and create permanent peace and invincibility for every nation.

A university president in Macedonia was so excited about the possibility of reducing social tension in the Balkans that he signed a letter of intent to introduce Consciousness-Based Education right away.

* Dr Ashley Deans' report was featured on the 31 May 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, which is broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
