The SWAHA (Society Working for the Advancement of Human Aspirations) school system in Trinidad and Tobago will be expanding its Consciousness-Based Education programme, including the reestablishment of a Yogic Flying group.
Raja Graham de Freitas, Raja of Invincible Trinidad and Tobago for the Global Country of World Peace, presented this initiative on a recent Maharishi Global Family Chat.*
In Trinidad, the Minister of Education inaugurated a new building this year for SWAHA, where students have been practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme for the last three years. Raja Graham commented that in 2007, a group of student Yogic Flyers was established in the school system by Raja Jose Luis Alvarez, Raja of Invincible Latin America, but the programme was discontinued for lack of sufficient space (see 2007 article). 'Now, with this new facility in place, we hope to reinstate a Yogic Flying group as soon as possible,' said Raja Graham, to support the rise of invincibility for the nation.
At the ceremony for the opening of the new building, SWAHA's principal presented to the Minister of Education the many benefits Transcendental Meditation has brought to students and to the system as a whole. He noted improved behaviour among students and success on national exams.
As part of the expansion of the Consciousness-Based Education programme at SWAHA, Transcendental Meditation Teachers on the island will begin meeting regularly with student Meditators, of whom there are now 150. Also, the National Director of Trinidad and Tobago for the Global Country of World Peace, Dr David Lee Sheng Tin, will be offering weekly meetings to students where he will present different aspects of the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
Raja Graham and Dr Leanne de Freitas continue to encourage national education leaders to take advantage of the wide range of scientifically-documented benefits offered by Consciousness-Based Education, and implement the programme in additional schools.
* Raja Graham's report was featured on the 12 December 2009 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
