Students in two New Zealand schools are now practising the Transcendental Meditation Technique. One school has several hundred students, the other six hundred.
Twice a day, whatever students are doing when the school bell rings, they gather in groups to practise Transcendental Meditation together. 'It has had a remarkable effect on the whole community,' said Raja Robert Wynne, Raja of New Zealand for the Global Country of World Peace.* Parents have given wonderful reports about the effects of their children practising the technique, he said.
In one school where 160 are participating in the programme, students are very happy with the results of their practice. One student has received a $10,000 grant to attend Auckland University, a great achievement for the school. Attributing his success to Transcendental Meditation, he explained that as a result of his practice, he felt very relaxed going into the interview; and as a result of the interview, he was awarded the grant.
Teachers of Advanced Techniques of Transcendental Meditation recently completed a tour of New Zealand, also offering a Refresher Course for those practising the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme. Products of Maharishi Ayur Veda natural health care have also become increasingly popular in the country.
One per cent of the population practising Transcendental Meditation is the basis for creating the Maharishi Effect of coherence for the nation, Raja Wynne explained, commenting that New Zealand has achieved this required number in the past. Now many people are also practising the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, for which a smaller number—the square root of one per cent, practising in groups—is required to create an invincible nation. 'We just need these groups to be practising at the same time, in the same place, to produce the maximum influence,' he said.
He added that as a result of the number of people practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the country, New Zealand has been rated the most peaceful country in the world, and just recently the country with the lowest crime rate.
* Raja Wynne spoke on the 9 December Maharishi Global Family Chat, which is broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
