A monk in Japan, who became a Teacher of Transcendental Meditation, has taught the technique to over 2,000 Buddhist monks and their students in Thailand.
Under the leadership of Raja Vikram Aditya, Raja of Vedic Siam (Thailand) for the Global Country of World Peace, and the David Lynch Foundation, other schools in Thailand with thousands of students are now implementing the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
Continuing his presentation on Canada at the celebration of the four-year anniversary of the David Lynch Foundation,* Dr Ashley Deans showed slides and spoke about the School for Ideal Education in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where the David Lynch Foundation is now expanding Consciousness-Based Education into the middle school.
The Foundation has also been generously funding the programme at a First Nations school in Victoria. All the teachers and the principal have learnt Transcendental Meditation, and students will learn when they return to school after the summer.
In Vancouver an arts college with 40 students has begun the programme. Since they teach film at this school, they were very happy to see a film of Dr David Lynch speaking about Transcendental Meditation, and everyone wanted to start the practice. This programme is being locally funded.
Dr Deans said they are working to inspire businesses and philanthropists to adopt schools and colleges in their local areas, to complement and augment the support received from the David Lynch Foundation.
* The David Lynch Foundation fourth anniversary celebration was featured on the 28 and 29 July Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3.
