People who want to learn more about the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the United States will soon find a wealth of compelling news, information, and knowledge available to them, in the form of an excellent new set of DVDs that Teachers of the technique will be using to promote its benefits in education and health. One DVD includes highlights of last April's historic 'Change Begins Within' concert in New York.
Speaking on 23 June 2009, Dr Mario Orsatti, National Director of Communication for the Global Country of World Peace in the US, described the contents of the two main DVDs in the collection, in preparation over the last weeks by his department.
The first DVD is a compilation of highlights from the David Lynch Foundation's 'Change Begins Within' benefit concert, which took place on 4 April 2009 at Radio City Music Hall, New York City. The DVD showcases segments of the headlining performances of former Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr; as well as clips from the press conference preceding the concert. At the press conference, concert performers, scientists, and other experts in the Transcendental Meditation Programme (including Father Gabriel Mejia, a Catholic priest from Colombia) described the extraordinary value of Consciousness-Based Education.
Subsequent sections of the DVD feature interviews with students, teachers, and school principals from around the world on their experiences with Transcendental Meditation, as well as interviews with some of the performers at the benefit concert—Sir Paul, Sheryl Crow, and Moby, among others. The DVD concludes with a talk by Russell Simmons, one of America's best-known entrepreneurs and philanthropists, cited by USA Today as one of the top 25 influential Americans in the last quarter-century.
The other main DVD in the collection includes in-depth information, including up-to-date scientific research, on the effects of Transcendental Meditation on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). 'It will contain resource material that will support presentations by TM Teachers to parents, schools, and associations that are concerned with this learning disorder, which has a growing negative influence among the US population,' said Dr Orsatti.
This DVD includes excerpts—and some full presentations—from conferences on TM and ADHD; news reports from major media; and experiences from people who have suffered from the disorder and reaped benefits from Transcendental Meditation. Among the news reports featured, continued Dr Orsatti, are: 'To the Contrary', a public broadcasting special from the Global Country of World Peace with a segment on TM and ADHD; the BBC's broadcast titled 'Using Meditation as Medication'; and the ABC feature on the impact of TM on ADHD.
Dr Orsatti added that a set of printed materials is also being organized to accompany the DVDs, which will further support TM Teachers in promoting Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes.
