Reverend Father Gabriel Mejia, who runs a rehabilitation centre for juvenile offenders in Colombia, spoke at a major press conference on 3 April 2009 in New York City, preceding the historic David Lynch Foundation benefit concert, 'Change Begins Within', at Radio City Music Hall the following day.
Speaking on 14 April, Raja Jose Luis Alvarez, Raja of Invincible Latin America for the Global Country of World Peace, commented on how moved everyone was at the press conference by Father Mejia's simple, direct, and profound words about his life experiences.
Father Mejia, whom Maharishi Mahesh Yogi referred to as the 'Saint of Colombia', teaches the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programmes to the 3,500 residents of his centre. 'He offers these troubled youth the opportunity to change their lives from within, so that it becomes unnecessary to control their behaviours on a superficial level,' said Raja Luis.
'As the embodiment of support and caring for a new generation, Father Gabriel Mejia's presence was well appreciated at the benefit concert,' concluded Raja Luis.
