The knowledge, principles, and success of Consciousness-Based Education were reverberating throughout the educational system in Turkey during a recent 11-day period—a result of 20 presentations by a leading expert in 7 cities.

The presentations were given by Dr Ashley Deans, Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education and Executive Director of Maharishi School in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.

Accompanying Dr Deans on the tour were Raja Paul Potter, Raja of Invincible Turkey, and Dr Albert Baruh, National Director of Turkey for the Global Country of World Peace.

Dr Deans commented that, although this was his fifth Consciousness-Based Education tour in Turkey, there was a new openness and receptivity to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's knowledge and programmes, unlike the response on any previous visit.

Dr Deans' first presentation was to the Rector, Dean of Students, and guidance counsellor of a private university with 3,500 students in the north of Istanbul, on the Black Sea. They were very receptive to the presentation and asked how they could implement Consciousness-Based Education for thousands of students. The owner of the university, a celebrated Turkish philanthropist and practitioner of the Transcendental Meditation Technique, organized the presentation.

Dr Baruh remarked that this university is one of the most prestigious in the Middle East, and that if Consciousness-Based Education were implemented there, it would be an inspiration for the whole Middle East and other countries as well.

Dr Deans also lectured at a high school. The principal of the school, which has about 2,000 students, responded very positively, expressing the desire to organize Consciousness-Based Education for both the secondary school and the high school.

The Rector of this school is a physicist; Dr Deans, also a physicist, was able to explain the principles of Consciousness-Based Education in the light of physics. 'The Rector was so impressed,' Raja Paul said, 'that he was ready to learn Transcendental Meditation immediately.'

At another private school in Istanbul of about 2,000 students, a presentation on Consciousness-Based Education was made to the Vice Principal and about forty faculty. The teachers were very eager to start Consciousness-Based Education. This school alone would fulfil the requirement to create invincibility for Turkey—850 people practising the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, in groups.

A presentation was made at a famous university in Istanbul, which offers education in French. The students were very enthusiastic to learn Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme.

Global Good News will feature a second article about Dr Deans' tour of Turkey in the coming days.
