2 July 2008
Speaking 1 July 2008 on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Mario Orsatti, National Director of Communication for the Global Country of World Peace in the United States, presented highlights from the recent Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.) Commencement ceremony in Fairfield, Iowa, USA—the largest graduation at the university in 20 years.
'This is the first time,' began Dr Orsatti, 'that we've had over 1,730 Yogic Flyers, the number needed for national invincibility, during an M.U.M. graduation ceremony.' The ever-rising numbers in the Invincible America Assembly, said Dr Orsatti, added to the blissful atmosphere during the ceremony.
The graduating class drew an audience of over 1,000, including family members and participants of the Invincible America Assembly. One reason so many assembly members came, said Dr Orsatti, was because Dr Howard and Dr Alice Settle, whose foundation donates $1 million per month to fund this permanent peace-creating group, were awarded honorary Doctorate of World Peace degrees; and Dr Howard Settle gave the commencement address. 'The generosity of Dr Howard and Dr Alice Settle has helped establish Invincibility for America and the whole world,' he said.
Dr Settle opened his address to the graduates with a definitive statement: 'I can say without contradiction that you are the most fortunate graduates in the world.' (Dr Settle's address will be featured in a Global Good News article in the coming days.)
Following his address were beautiful speeches from M.U.M.'s two Salutatorians, recipients of the second highest grade point averages in the class. Following these, the Valedictorian, recipient of the highest grade point average, also spoke. 'This young lady, born in Poland and raised in Chicago, Illinois, exemplified the radiant quality of higher states of consciousness that M.U.M. naturally produces in its students,' said Dr Orsatti.
Dr Bevan Morris, President of the University and Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, expressed great joy in awarding each diploma. 'It was a wonderful moment,' commented Dr Orsatti. 'The awarding of diplomas represented the culmination of each student's education, and the culmination of the gift given by faculty, staff, and administration to every student at the university.'
On the whole, Dr Orsatti concluded, it was an extraordinarily uplifting ceremony, marking not only a transition in these students' lives, but the dawning of invincibility for the nation.
