On 23 November 2007 Globus magazine reported: During an interview in Holland, renowned filmmaker David Lynch said that he would like to see Croatia be one of the countries to quickly establish a school which offers Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique as part of its curriculum. Recently Lynch has been on a tour of 20 European nations, speaking about the benefits of Transcendental Meditation in education. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the fields of education and world peace.

The article reported that Mr Lynch's enthusiasm for the initiative to establish 'schools for meditation and peace' was evident in his speech. 250 students meditating together twice each day would create an influence of peace and harmony in the nation, Lynch said. Through group practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme world peace can be achieved, he said.

The students themselves also benefit, the article reported. Mr Lynch said that when students practise Transcendental Meditation they become happier, more creative, get better grades, and learn more easily. The schools in the US that have introduced the TM Programme have had incredible results including significant reduction of violence, improved academic performance, and increased enthusiasm for school. 'Best of all' the article reported, the students, 'like light bulbs' then radiate joy and happiness to everyone around them.

Transcendental Meditation, Lynch said, would also have a positive influence on soldiers who have been through traumatic experiences of war—'and that would be of great help in Croatia also', the article stated.

Mr Lynch recently met with Israel's President Shimon Peres (see Global Good News article Israel welcomes David Lynch: Highlights of the visit - Part I) and presented the peace initiative.

The article stated that Lynch also recently had an informal meeting with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic while touring in Estonia. The article reported that President Mesic 'loves and respects' Lynch's work, and also showed interest in the initiative to create 'schools of peace'. It was a friendly and pleasant meeting the article stated, and Mr Lynch said he will send information and materials about Transcendental Meditation programmes in schools to the President's Cabinet.
