David Lynch and Donovan headline top national venues
The Review, Maharishi University of Management, USA Translate This Article
25 January 2007
Award-winning film director and University Trustee Dr. David Lynch, and legendary singer/songwriter Donovan recently made joint appearances at three top venues: Lincoln Center in New York City, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
At each event, Dr. Lynch spoke about his critically acclaimed new book, Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity; his new film, INLAND EMPIRE; and his David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based(SM) Education and World Peace, which is funding in-school Transcendental Meditation® programs for school students.
Also, at the events Donovan performed a live concert showcasing his greatest, most beloved songs. The events were offered free, and in each case the auditorium was filled to capacity with government, business, and education leaders, students, and members of the press. At Lincoln Center 1,000 people attended and 2,000 were turned away.
In Washington, D.C., Dr. Lynch and Donovan addressed ambassadors and other government dignitaries at a private dinner party before appearing before a capacity audience of 500 government, business, and educational leaders at the John F. Kennedy Center.
Mr. Lynch has also been offering book signings, with 900 people showing up at the New York Barnes & Noble—as many as appeared for Hillary Clinton's signing—and 1,000 turned away.
