According to Dennis Heaton, dean of distance education, the larger enrollment is due in part to the name recognition and prestige of Capital University. The students take their first two years with Capital University and their last two years comprise the Maharishi University of Management management curriculum. The focus was initially business, but computer science is also now being offered. The students then graduate with a Maharishi University of Management degree.

Faculty from the M.U.M. Fairfield campus travel to China to teach along with Chinese faculty and teaching assistants. Chinese teachers are being trained to teach Consciousness-Based Education, and will be playing an increasing role.
