The national spotlight will once again shine on Fairfield, Iowa, USA,* as a result of the city's being selected for the AMC network's forthcoming reality-TV series called Road Shows, which features small town talent competitions.
AMC preselected 24 cities, and then a casting producer narrowed it to 8, choosing Fairfield because of the local talent, cultural diversity, and presence of Maharishi University of Management.
Auditions were held last week in the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, and four acts will be selected from the many who tried out.
Those four acts will work with Hollywood professionals to brush up their performance. They will then compete in an American Idol-type talent show in Sondheim, complete with Hollywood judges. The winner will receive a substantial cash prize.
All the entertainment, excitement, and drama will be recorded and edited to an hour-long documentary-style program that will air in the spring of next year.
Each of the eight small cities selected will be featured in an episode.

Global Good News comment:
* One year ago, Oprah Winfrey spent a day touring Fairfield—''TM Town''—with her film crew, including Maharishi University of Management, Maharishi School, and neighbouring Maharishi Vedic City, for an episode of her new show, Oprah's Next Chapter, which aired in March 2012. Following the show, thousands of people across the country learned Transcendental Meditation; many also came to Fairfield last summer for the special ''Experience the Self'' course at MUM.
