''The faster the pace of business, the more we need to not just slow down, but go deeper within ourselves through Transcendental Meditation (TM). Then, we can react better, and make smarter decisions in our incredibly rapidly changing world,'' said Bob Roth, executive director of the David Lynch Foundation, during the Wisdom 2.0 Business's third annual conference, which took place at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts on September 10.

Wisdom 2.0 Business′s mission is ''to not only live connected to one another through technology, but to do so in ways that are beneficial to our own well-being, effective in our work, and useful to the world.''

Bob was joined in the discussion by meditators Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, a prominent women's heart specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, and Dov Seidman, CEO of LRN, a nationally renowned ethics and compliance management firm. They discussed the wide-ranging benefits of Transcendental Meditation in the workplace.

''Business needs a pause—and that pause is Transcendental Meditation,'' said Dov. ''The more interconnected the world becomes, everyone is not just expected to do the next thing right but do the next right thing—and TM is key for that.''

''When we transcend during TM, the whole brain wakes up and the active thinking mind settles down to a unique state of inner restful alertness. At the same time, the body gains a state of profound rest and relaxation,'' Bob said.

The result? ''Executives and employees in high pressure, high performing work environments manage pressure better, are more productive, and get sick less often, thereby cutting healthcare costs,'' Dr. Steinbaum said.

Dr. Steinbaum cited a study published by the American Heart Association, which found that Transcendental Meditation is unique among all meditation techniques because it actually reduces high blood pressure.

''Living your life with passion and purpose decreases the influence of heart disease,'' said Dr. Steinbaum. ''That's why I prescribe TM to my patients—it brings energy and passion to life.''

The Center for Leadership Performance is partnering with the David Lynch Foundation to offer TM to large and small companies nationwide. For more information, click here.
