In the past year, two large national assemblies in Italy have given people who practise Transcendental Meditation opportunities to deepen their understanding of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Vedic Science. At the same time participants enjoyed creating a coherent, peaceful influence in the environment while accelerating their development of consciousness through group practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programmes.

The assemblies were held in Castel San Pietro Terme, a renowned spa town near Bologna, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. This area has been the venue for many courses for Italian practitioners of Transcendental Meditation in the last few years.

The national assemblies featured video lectures by Maharishi and commentary by Dr Peter Warburton, Chairman of Maharishi Foundation in the UK. Dr Warburton worked closely with Maharishi over many years in developing courses in the knowledge and technologies of Vedic Science.

The first assembly, which drew 90 participants, also featured a showing of the historic film 'Sage for a New Generation', depicting Transcendental Meditation through the eyes of the 1960s generation.

On the second assembly, 70 people enjoyed a course on Total Knowledge, taught by Dr Warburton. The lectures were complemented by a series of posters illustrating the structure of the Veda.

Dr Warburton, a very experienced teacher of Maharishi's programmes, was responsible for developing the Total Knowledge Course curriculum, which is based on knowledge of the Unified Field of all the laws of nature, where the source of every field of academic study can be located. All possible disciplines of study, Dr Warburton explained, can be shown to have their foundation in the Veda—the field of Total Knowledge. Even assembly participants who were new to the practice of Transcendental Meditation found it easy to understand the course content and were inspired by the knowledge they gained of Maharishi Vedic Science.

As a result of these courses, many more people in Italy have become interested in learning the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme, including Yogic Flying. A course for Italians recently concluded at Maharishi European Research University (MERU) in the Netherlands.
