Prominent writers call for friendly Chile-Peru relations

On 26 July 2012 ILoveChile.com reported: On 25 July, Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa met with the Chilean ambassador to France, Jorge Edwards, in the CĂ­rculo de Bellas Artes building in Madrid. The old friends launched a document entitled 'Calling Concord' (alluding to the Peru-Chile border, known as the 'concord line'), which aims to ease recent tension between the countries. The document Vargas Llosa and Edwards compiled with the help of 30 intellectuals and ex-diplomats, calls on the Peruvian and Chilean government to reduce bilateral antagonism.
