On 26 October, the Global Country of World Peace enjoyed a beautiful celebration of the Festival of Lights, the culmination of three days of special celebrations. The Festival of Lights, Dipavali in the Vedic calendar, celebrates the day of Mahalakshmi—the day of celebrating and enlivening the qualities of abundance, affluence, and fulfilment inherent in the structure of Natural Law, for every individual and every nation.

The celebration took place in MERU, Holland and at the Capital of World Peace in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India. Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, honoured by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as first ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, addressed the celebration via teleconference from Maharishi Vedic City, USA. People in many countries also enjoyed a webcast of the celebration.

A highlight of the day's programme, following traditional Vedic recitations by Maharishi Vedic Pandits in the Brahmasthan of India and in MERU, was the video of an address by Maharishi on the Festival of Lights, 9 November 2007.

Maharishi said, 'We have celebrated the Festival of Light, the most awakened day out of the 365 days of the Vedic Calendar. And that momentum gained today, in the unification of the scattered awareness of the six billion people of the world, stands unified in complete light, the Festival of Light.'

Following Maharishi's 2007 address, Dr Benjamin Feldman, Minister of Finance of the Global Country of World Peace, gave a special message about the timely need to create balance in the world economy though introduction of the Raam global development currency, to act as a catalyst for the development of natural resources in developing countries. 'This is the stimulus the global economy requires,' Dr Feldman said, which will bring self-sufficiency and unrestricted affluence in peace and invincibility to every nation.

It was also reported that a great spiritual leader of India, the Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, Himalayas, sent Dipavali greetings and good wishes to Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam and all the members of the Global Country of World Peace.

In his address at the culmination of the celebration, Maharaja said that the reality of Mahalakshmi, infinite affluence, is available in the infinite silence of everyone, in the form of the infinite dynamism of total Natural Law, the total power of Brahm (Totality). Global Good News is featuring a separate article on Maharaja's address.

Global Good News will continue to report on highlights of the celebration, including Maharaja's address and Dr Feldman's message.
