Germany: Construction begins on first Vastu Maharishi Peace Palace in Europe

22 October 2011
On 6 October, well-wishers of peace for Germany and all of Europe gathered in Erfurt to lay the foundation stones for the first Maharishi Peace Palace in Europe to be designed according to Maharishi Vastu* (Vedic architecture).
The Peace Palace will be the home of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the area, and related programmes for health and personal development of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. A Maharishi Peace Palace is a centre for anyone who is interested in these peace-creating programmes, Transcendental Meditation teachers explained. It is, above all, a hub of tranquillity in the community, a centre which houses the profound knowledge of how to create permanent peace in the world.
Though the building itself is not vast, its construction is of enormous significance, remarked Dr Peter Swan, Minister of Communication for the Global Country of World Peace. Referring to the Vedic wisdom from which Maharishi's programmes, including Vastu architecture, are drawn, he said, 'It's the first concrete expression of total Natural Law to be built to house Total Knowledge for Europe.'
The Peace Palace's location is also significant. It is situated in Erfurt, in the centre of Germany. In Maharishi Vastu architecture, the centre of a building, community, or country (known as the Brahmasthan) is the seat of wholeness, where the totality of Natural Law is established; from the centre of the nation, the influence of harmony and positivity generated by the Erfurt Peace Palace will have the maximum effect for the whole area.
Its location in Germany, too, is meaningful, Dr Swan commented. Having a centre for creating peace in the heart of Western Europe is an auspicious development for the entire continent and, through it, the rest of the world.
* Vastu refers to Vedic architecture—the complete knowledge of design and building in accord with Natural Law—brought to light from the Vedic literature by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.
