This summer Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa, USA celebrated its 10th anniversary.
A grand celebration with fireworks and speeches by city leaders was held on 25 July 2011 in honour of this milestone.
Maharishi Vedic City was founded to be a model city offering such programmes as ideal Vedic health care, Vedic agriculture, and Vedic architecture, also known as Maharishi Vastu.
The expansion of the population—from about 150 to about 1,300—has inspired a city plan to identify all the areas suitable for Vastu construction.
The atmosphere of harmony and coherence created by large groups collectively practising Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programmes including Yogic Flying, draws people from around the US and the world.
'When they come here they are so enthralled by the wonderful feeling in Maharishi Vedic City and Maharishi University of Management [in neighbouring Fairfield, Iowa] that they often decide on the spot . . . that they are going to come back and build a Vastu house in this wonderful community and move here,' commented Rogers Badgett, city councilman and founder of the award-winning Maharishi Ayur-Veda spa, The Raj.
