'I have to say to the world press, watch, and report what you see. What you see in the world is the whisper of the eternal song of the administration of the universe. Freedom, peace, prosperity, invincibility—these are the qualities being produced in the units of administration of the universe . . . in every nation. Now the world press has to see, and see, and see. And report what you see.' —Maharishi
Global Good News documents the positive trends of rising world consciousness resulting from the success of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes in every area to create coherence and positivity in individual life and for the whole society.
This report features positive trends in the world's economy in May 2011, drawn from daily news reports around the world.
Improving economic conditions in many parts of the world
In May, the United States and the United Kingdom saw rising consumer confidence and sales growth. Germany led the euro zones economic surge. South Africa's economic recovery continues and the country's CEOs are more positive about business conditions. Africa's foreign direct investments climbed. Venezuela's economy grew.
Manufacturing and construction rose in the US and Canada. More people were employed in Canada, while fewer people applied for unemployment benefits in Spain and the US.
In May, experts predicted that by 2022 those living in poverty will be a minority for the first time, as the global middle class rises—particularly from the economic growth of Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
The United Nations noted that global tourism continues to rebuild. 'South America and South Asia were the best performers,' the UN reported, 'with international visitor numbers leaping by 15 per cent in both regions, while sub-Saharan Africa (13 per cent) and Central and Eastern Europe (12 per cent) also posted strong gains.'
