Dr Girish Varma, National Director of the Global Country of World Peace for India**, concluded his presentation to the Global Guru Purnima Assembly in MERU, Netherlands, giving details about the celebration of Guru Purnima day on 18 July at Jabalpur, India, the home city of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Dr Varma also completed his review of Maharishi's achievements offered at this celebration.
Please see also Part I, Part II, and Part III of Dr Varma's presentation.
The Guru Purnima celebration in India at Jabalpur took place in three sessions. First was the Inaugural Ceremony of Guru Purnima and a new organization for India, Maharishi World Peace Movement.
The second session included presentations by experts in Maharishi's Vedic Science and Technology on the contributions of Maharishi's programmes to the establishment of world peace: Raja Michael Dillbeck and Dr Volker Schanbacher on the Consciousness-Based Education; Dr Rainer Picha on Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health; and Dr Eike Hartmann on Vastu and Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.
There were also presentations on the contributions of Maharishi Jyotish and Yagya Programmes; Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture; Maharishi Technology of Invincible Defence; and Maharishi Gandharva Veda to the establishment of world peace.
At the third session, in the evening, a famous female vocalist and a Shenai and flute player performed Maharishi Gandharva Veda music.
Dr Varma said that 'with the new Maharishi World Peace Movement we will achieve the target Maharishi set for India through this and all the organizations in India. The purpose of this new organization is to arrange [instruction in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme] of one crore, ten million citizens, which is one per cent of the Indian population; and to train at least 100,000 Yogic Flyers.
'The target is not only to instruct and train this number of Yogic Flyers, but we also practically, physically, have plans to have groups meditate and practise Yogic Flying together at a fixed time morning and evening.'
* The Mahamedia News Agency was also offered to Guru Dev*** and Maharishi. This news service has received positive acknowledgement for its positive and healthy media approach. Over 50 column, feature, and story writers will be writing and providing positive articles to Mahamedia. Mahamedia will be covering news of all areas of life and offering solutions on the basis of Maharishi's Vedic knowledge and Vedic Science and Technology.
A press conference was held by Mahamedia News Agency to announce the Guru Purnima celebration and inauguration of the new organization to create world peace, and for the first time in the history of Maharishi's Indian organizations, 55 senior journalists with reporters and camera crews attended the conference. On Guru Purnima day itself, over 70 senior members including chief editors, reporters, and editors from print and electronic media from all over India attended the celebration. One television channel covered the total celebration live for about ten and one-half hours. All other state news channels covered from 15 minutes to two hours of live programmes and repeated these several times over the next few days.
All the national print media gave big coverage of the celebration with either a quarter or half page with many pictures and positive comments. In just two days millions of people all over India have been informed about Maharishi's programme of world peace and invincibility.
'So we feel that the establishment of Maharishi World Peace Movement was very successful,' Dr Varma said.
* For the first time, a complete audio recording of Shri Ramcharitmanas, one aspect of the Vedic Literature, with Maharishi Gandharva Veda and traditional tunes, was also offered. Three chapters have already been released and four more will be released very soon.
This huge text has taken a total of 56 CDs, which may increase at the end since the longest chapter alone takes 17 CDs. Once the audio production is complete, video recordings will be produced that include live scenes, animation, paintings, and sketch work. 'I feel very happy and proud to report that Maharishi heard one chapter of these recordings and very much appreciated the effort especially that the full Ramcharitmanas was being recorded.' Maharishi dictated his comments and asked Dr Varma to include them in the next version of the CDs, which will be done.
* A Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture project was also offered on Guru Purnima. Last year about 300 acres [121 hectares] of land were cultivated, with crops that included wheat, soya bean, mustard, mung dahl, urad dahl, corn, and vegetables. 1,000 acres [405 hectares] of land will be developed this coming year, and later hundreds of thousands of acres.
Concluding his presentation, Dr Varma said, 'Everything we do is being done by Nature, by Guru Dev, and by Maharishi. We are just lucky instruments, chosen to perform.' He expressed his gratitude for all the support of Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam, all the Rajas and Ministers of the Global Country of World Peace.
