(May 26, 2004) His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi proclaimed that mankind's dream of utopian civilization can now be fulfilled through Vedic education, which develops the full creative potential of every individual for a peaceful, prosperous world.
To realize this age-old ideal, Maharishi said, Vedic universities, colleges, and schools are now being established in every major city in the world to offer total knowledge of Natural Law to all people. Then, everyone will rise to enlightenment, no one will make mistakes, and everyone will enjoy increasing intelligence, energy, and success in life.
'In today's world of ignorance, fulfilling this utopian dream sounds impossible,' Maharishi said. 'But the knowledge is now available to achieve it. This is what we have been telling the world week after week, year after year: It is simple to create a beautiful new civilization.'
Maharish's message to educators came during his recent global news conference held on May 19, and broacast live via satellite and Internet webcast from the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in Meru, Holland. Maharishi's next global news conferences will be held on May 26 and 27.
Book knowledge will never bring satisfaction to anyone
Maharishi declared that while all parents want to give their children the best possible education, such education has not been available for anyone--until now. 'Knowledge only came from books,' Maharishi said. 'If someone has a Ph.D., M.A., or B.A., you can see that he is an intelligent man--but he is only intelligent in his restricted field of knowledge. There are innumerable fields of life that he doesn't know anything about. That is why book learning will never bring satisfaction to anyone. It is time for knowledge to be complete--it is time for education to be complete.'
Total knowledge is available to every human being
Maharishi said that complete knowledge is now available through Vedic education. 'Total knowledge of Natural Law, which administers the universe with perfect order, is available to every human being on the level of his own self-referral consciousness,' Maharishi said. 'Vedic education provides the direct experience and intellectual understanding of this infinite, eternal, unbounded, transcendental field of life. Only total knowledge of this field will bring satisfaction to the people.'
Great interest from government and education leaders in Maharishi's approach to education
During the news conference, His Excellency Dr. Bevan Morris, Minister of Enlightenment of the Global Country of World Peace and President of Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, reported great interest among government and education leaders in Maharishi's approach to education. Dr. Morris said that 250 educators recently attended a national conference in Washington, D.C., on the use of Transcendental Meditation to promote ideal education--and more than 60 schools and youth organizations in the Washington area alone have expressed a desire to offer Maharishi's approach to their students.
In response, Maharishi offered to hold a special training course in total knowledge for all teachers--and he called on university and school administrators to send as many teachers as possible as soon as possible to the course.
Total knowledge is gained through analysis and synthesis
Maharishi explained to the educators that total knowledge will be gained through two processes: analysis and synthesis. 'First, you give the student the unity of total knowledge, and then through analysis this unity is elaborated and unfolded until all fields of knowledge are brought to the student's awareness,' Maharishi said. 'Once total knowledge is fully expanded, it is made unified and holistic again through the process of synthesis. In this way, every student will gain knowledge of the ultimate reality. He will enjoy the support of total Natural Law so that his life is always evolutionary--always lived with more intelligence, more energy, and greater success in life.'
Maharishi emphasized that such training in total knowledge is a requirement for every educational institution. 'Harvard, Yale, and all other universities simply do not know where total knowledge is located--nor do they know how to awaken it within each student's awareness. These universities must learn something new--they must learn something that they do not know today in order to lead the young to maturity tomorrow,' Maharishi said.
The gift of total knowledge from the tradition of Vedic masters
Maharishi concluded by saying that total knowledge should not be thought of in terms of any particular country, such as India, America, England, Australia, etc. Rather, total knowledge should be thought of in terms of the unlimited potential of human life. 'The possibilities for human life are cosmic,' Maharishi said.
'Fortunately, with this gift of total knowledge from the tradition of Vedic masters, we are opening Vedic universities, colleges, and schools to take human life out of chaos and problems. We are training people of all ages--students, working adults, and retired people--to become guiding lights of enlightenment for all people in every country, generation after generation.'
