In celebrating the success of the Transcendental Meditation organizations in the United States in 2017, Transcendental Meditation for Women reports on continuing growth of its many courses and programs offered for women.

TM for Women teaches students as well as women in all careers and phases of life, individually. We are also active in bringing the TM course to communities and organizations of women. Through the efforts of TM for Women, nurses, social workers, nurse midwives, massage therapists and others can receive professional continuing education credit when they learn the TM technique.

In particular, our nurse outreach, TM for Nurses, has flourished this year. As well as having taught individual nurses throughout the nation, our programs for nurses in medical facilities are flourishing.

Courses are held at the Hunterdon Medical Center and Princeton Hospital in New Jersey, at two of the Scripps Memorial Hospitals in California (Scripps is the third hospital to offer TM for tuition reimbursement), at the University of Iowa College of Nursing, the Weslyan School of Nursing in Iowa, and at the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University in Chicago. Nurses at Hunterdon Medical Center in New Jersey have undertaken a research study called Evaluating the Effects of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Program on Compassion Fatigue.

Nurse administrators in many other locations are committed to implementing TM for Nurses programs in the coming year.

In 2017, we became online partners with the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association and the Ohio Association of Occupational Health Nurses. TM for Nurses has been effective in significantly reducing stress and fatigue, preventing burnout, and enabling nurses to continue to thrive in the profession they love.

This year will probably be remembered in part for the surge in public social outcry against abuse and harassment of women. The TM technique is an evidence-based method of healing and empowering that helps restore women and girls to the self-worth and happiness they deserve.

In 2017, TM for Women continued to focus on bringing relief to women who suffered trauma. Our courses this year also included instruction for administrators at a child advocacy center and a program for active duty military women at an army base. In 2017, we offered the TM program to several groups in partnership with the David Lynch Foundation, Maharishi University of Management and the Canadian Women's Wellness Initiative.
