New Delhi: Maharishi Ayurveda - India announced recently that it is going to open 1,000 Maharishi health care centres all over India in 2012-13 through franchise.
Announcing this during a press conference in New Delhi, the Chairman of Maharishi Ayurveda, Mr Anand Shrivastava, said that these centres will cater to the health problems of people who are suffering from chronic diseases.
Apart from this, the company Maharishi Ayurveda in the past 25 years has grown from strength to strength in pursuit of creating a disease-free society by manufacturing quality medicines. Several research studies conducted on the effectiveness of these medicines are a testimony to this fact.
While doing so the company has proven to the world that the holistic approach of India's ancient system of medicine, Ayurveda, is the only answer to the health problems that the world is facing today. These views were expressed by Mr Shrivastava in a press conference organized 6 April to celebrate the company's silver jubilee.
Expressing happiness over the growing popularity of Ayurveda the world over, he said that Maharishi Ayurveda, established with the blessings of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, has tirelessly worked towards establishing Ayurveda as a total and holistic system of medicine throughout the world, particularly in the West where people are now turning towards the herbal formulations.
Mr Shrivastava said that Maharishi Ayurveda medicines are manufactured strictly in accordance with ancient Ayurveda texts, maintaining all the parameters of quality control using pure and organic herbs. He said that the company, while doing so, never allowed profit to take precedence over quality.
Today the company is certified with ISO9001-2008, ISO 22,000, GMP, WHO-GMP, GLP, and HACCP. The company manufactures a wide range of over 700 products. The company has an in-house research and development department which is recognized by the science and technology department, Government of India.
Not only this, but Maharishi Ayurveda Hospital is the only hospital in India accredited with NABH (National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Healthcare Providers). The organization has 20 health centres to treat common and chronic diseases.
He said several world-renowned institutes have conducted research on the quality and efficacy of Maharishi Ayurveda's medicines. Some of these are: College of Medicine, The Ohio State University; Indiana University School of Medicine; University of California; Maharishi International University (since 1995 Maharishi University of Management), Fairfield, Iowa, USA; and Gifu University School of Medicine, Japan.
In India, also, the medicines have gone through several trials at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi; Indian Toxicology Centre, King George College, Kurukshetra University; and National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal.
Maharishi Ayurveda's premier product, Maharishi Amrit Kalash, has also been subjected to several researches and trials spanning over six years. These studies have indicated that apart from being a health food, it is useful in tackling the side effects of chemotherapy.
Apart from this, Maharishi Ayurveda Hospital has a clinic for diabetes and Panchkarma (rejuvenation therapy) Center.
In 2011, Maharishi Ayurveda set up a veterinary department for manufacturing a wide range of medicines for animals. (A.E.N.)
