In the last week, articles heralding the positive benefits of Transcendental Meditation for treating high blood pressure have appeared in over 100 newspapers. In addition, articles featuring Maharishi Vedic Agriculture, Maharishi Vedic Architecture, and Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Education were printed nationally and internationally.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
In Maharishi's Global Press Conference of 16 February 2005, Dr John Hagelin, President of the US Peace Government, presented some of the extensive media coverage that Maharishi's programmes have received recently. The latest research reporting the success of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in treating high blood pressure, which has been featured in the American Journal of Hypertension, received especially widespread coverage.
An Associated Press article, 'Meditation May Help Lower Blood Pressure', was picked up by many prestigious periodicals and magazines including The Philadelphia Inquirer, ABCNEWS.com, San Francisco Chronicle, Canada Free Press, Forbes Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Fort Worth Star Telegram, The Miami Herald, The Charlotte Observer, NY Newsday, The Kansas City Star, The Washington Post, Newsweek, The Sacramento Bee, The Macon Telegraph, Tri-Valley Herald, Hartford Courant, Paktribune.com, and WebMD.com.
Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Education—education for the total brain development of the individual—was also widely covered. Articles in the International Herald Tribune, New Yorker magazine, The Kansas City Star, and The Washington Post all announced the benefits of implementing the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the classroom. The articles mentioned the success of the Nataki Talibah Schoolhouse in Detroit and the Fletcher-Johnson School in Washington. Both schools have greatly benefited by having a period a day in which the students practise the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Programme. Students at the Nataki Talibah Schoolhouse were part of a study headed by the director of education at the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the University of Michigan. The study found the meditating students at the Nataki Talibah Schoolhouse to be happier and more capable of handling stress in comparison to non-meditating students at a Detroit school. The articles also cited the new research demonstrating TM's ability to help children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Featured on Iowa Public TV was The Raj, America's premiere Ayurveda health spa. The Raj offers Maharishi Vedic approach to health and is located in Maharishi Vedic City. Additionally, Maharishi Vedic Architecture was the subject of an article in The Des Moines Register's Homestyle magazine.
Another beautiful article on the greenhouse in Maharishi Vedic City and Maharishi Vedic Organic Farms was printed in The Des Moines Register. The article not only mentioned the great success of Maharishi Vedic Organic Farms in bringing organic produce to restaurants and stores around the mid-west, but also mentioned the Vedic Pandits and their role in creating coherence.
In the global media, it was a week of great awakening to Maharishi's many programmes for creating world peace. The news of the scientifically proven health benefits of Transcendental Meditation and the success of Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Education has spread throughout the world.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
