According to Juan Varilias, chairman of Adex (the Union of Exporters), Peru exported 97 million dollars' worth of organic produce in the first semester of 2012. This number is a little higher than the same period in 2011, when importers ran up a tab of 95 million dollars. During the opening of the fifth annual International Convention of Organic Produce, sector representatives stated that a lot more success is to be expected from the export trade. 'Some of our markets include Canada, Holland, Finland and the United Arab Emirates. This market has gone up with 10 per cent globally,' said Varilias.
