Bulgaria is renowned as the producer of a large percentage of the rose oil used in the world, which is distilled from roses grown in the unique climatic and soil conditions of the beautiful Valley of the Roses, near the centre of the country.
Over the past several years a new project has been established to grow organic roses in the region, including distillation of a very special and refined quality of rose oil, by organizations offering the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Bulgaria.
The organic agriculture project is situated near a lovely, quiet village. The roses blossom from the end of May to the end of June, and the project manages the harvest of the roses and transport to the nearby distillery, which uses very sophisticated processing equipment. Organizers are closely involved in the process of distillation, as well as in export of the oils.
In addition to its role in producing high quality organic essential oils, the project helps to support special groups of peace-creating experts who practise Maharishi's technologies of consciousness to create harmony and coherence in the collective consciousness of nations and the world.
