Programmes of the Global Country of World Peace to promote peace and progress in St Kitts and Nevis are underway in the fields of education and agriculture.
Three years ago Dr Richard Shelford, a Canadian Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Programme who is a native of Saint Kitts, began leading initiatives there for the Global Country of World Peace, and he is currently working on several interrelated projects.
'Quiet Time' programmes—which offer students the opportunity to practise Transcendental Meditation during school hours and enjoy the many benefits of the technique—have received initial support from school principals as well as officials.
A specialty agricultural sugar operation will make use of abandoned sugar cane farms. Former workers will be re-employed, and will also have the opportunity to participate in educational technologies offered by the Global Country.
Dr Shelford is also working on a specialty agricultural dairy operation, for which land is being provided.
There are also plans underway for a Sustainable Living College, which will be integrated with the agricultural initiatives.
