A range of programmes is being developed for new online Consciousness-Based Education courses: from single lessons to full degree programmes for professional development.
Raja Tom Stanley, a Raja (Administrator) for the Global Country of World Peace, continued his overview of the new online Consciousness-Based courses under development.
Raja Stanley explained that single lessons could focus on topics in, for example, Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care, or Maharishi Sthapatya Veda (Vedic Architecture). Other short courses could introduce aspects of Maharishi's Vedic Science.
The programme could also feature Knowledge for Fulfilment courses of 6, 8, or 16 hours.
Another possibility is certificate programmes of continuing education for professional development—for example, in sustainability, accounting, or computer science.
'We will start one step at a time, but we hope to come up to offering our full degree programmes in different subjects online as well,' all in the Mother Tongue of the student, Raja Stanley said. Ultimately, complete Vedic Education will also be online, presented by Maharishi Vedic University and Maharishi University of Enlightenment.
Raja Stanley explained that students will learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme in their local Maharishi Invincibility Centre,* which could also offer portions of online courses in a local learning centre, so that students could take courses together in a group.
The technologies necessary for this online education are also being developed, including: computer programmes; standards for online courses, using Maharishi's principles for Consciousness-Based Education; training materials and resources for faculty to adapt existing courses to an online format; and standardized technologies and user interfaces for the students. Centralized administrative and technical services are also being researched.
Universities and schools founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi around the world are involved in developing these courses—in the United States, India, United Kingdom, South Africa, Thailand, Australia, and Trinidad and Tobago. 'Many institutions will be working to bring the courses and programmes already available to a wider audience through online education,' Raja Stanley said.
'We have the full range of possibilities, and eventually these local learning centres where students come for their online courses will develop into full-fledged universities in every country.'
Raja Stanley asked those who have ideas for Consciousness-Based Education online—what he called 'education with just one click'—to contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Raja Stanley spoke on the 18 November Maharishi Global Family Chat, which is broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
* Maharishi Invincibility Centres in major cities around the world offer the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, including the Transcendental Meditation Programme, to promote enlightenment for every individual and invincibility for every nation through development of full potential in every area of life.
