New programmes are being developed to encourage young people to become Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Programme—including outreach projects by Dr David Lynch and Raja John Hagelin, Raja of Invincible America, and an academic track at Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.), Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
'We realize that sustaining Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes throughout the world will require a new generation of leadership,' said Dr Robert Roth, National Director of Expansion for the Global Country of World Peace in the United States, reporting recently on Maharishi Global Family Chat.*
The ultimate goal, which the David Lynch Foundation is supporting, is to train 10,000 new Transcendental Meditation Teachers within the next 10 years.
To launch this ambitious project, Raja Hagelin and Dr Lynch will hold a live webcast—which they hope will be viewed by as many college students as possible, throughout the US and the world.
Webcast schedule: Wednesday, 28 October 2009 5:00 pm US Pacific Time, 8:00 pm US Eastern Time
'This online event aims to inspire students not only to learn Transcendental Meditation, but to become Teachers of TM,' said Dr Roth. He added that, in the webcast, Raja Hagelin and Dr Lynch will explain that learning the practice is the first step in the process towards changing the world by becoming a Teacher of the programme.
Dr Roth went on to report that M.U.M. has recently developed a career track for students to become Transcendental Meditation Teachers. The track will provide them with skill sets necessary for administering a Maharishi Invincibility Centres**—including public speaking and Internet marketing—while not detracting from their degree programme of choice—for example, Education, Business, Sustainable Living, or Physiology and Health.
As new Transcendental Meditation Teachers, M.U.M. graduates will be given the opportunity to spend two years in a salaried position, teaching in Consciousness-Based Education schools, American Indian reservations, prisons, or other institutions where a programme is in place. After this period, the new Teacher will move on to a leadership role administering a Maharishi Invincibility Centre.
'This is a comprehensive plan Raja Hagelin has in place, to create these opportunities for young people wishing not only for personal enlightenment, but to transform the world through teaching of the Transcendental Meditation Programme,' Dr Roth concluded.
* Dr Roth's report was featured on the 13 October 2009 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
** Maharishi Invincibility Centres in major cities around the world offer the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, including the Transcendental Meditation Programme, to promote enlightenment for every individual and invincibility for every nation through development of full potential in every area of life.
